Time is ticking for a pair of rural performers who are fundraising to take their show to the big screen.
The Bitches' Box duo, Amelia Dunbar and Emma Newborn are trying to raise NZ$30,000 in a crowdfunding campaign by Sunday night to turn their show into a feature-length film.
Dunbar told Rural Exchange they wanted to take rural comedy to the wider nation.
"We feel so passionately about celebrating rural New Zealand," Dunbar said.
"We want it to be a really positive and happy and irreverent piece of silly fiction that we haven't seen since the likes of Footrot Flats or Fred Dagg, just something really fun but also a reflection of that community in a cheeky way."
They have taken their shows The Bitches' Box, Son's of a Bitch and Life's a Bitch right around New Zealand, Australia and even Edinburgh.
Dunar was also well known for her bold and bright paintings of boisterous bulls and curious cows as Amelia Guild Art.
She also recently took home the Supreme Winner and Creative Arts Awards at the Rural Women New Zealand and NZI 2022 Business Awards.
"It was absolutely so humbling, I really didn't think I was going to get that," she said.
