Sam McIvor Resigns From Beef + Lamb NZ CEO To Join Ospri

Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) bids farewell to its long-serving CEO, Sam McIvor, as he steps down from his role after 17 years of dedicated service. McIvor also held the position of CEO at the New Zealand Meat Board (NZMB). His departure marks the end of an era but paves the way for fresh leadership within the primary sector.

He is set to join New Zealand's leading animal disease management and traceability service provider OSPRI as its new Chief Executive Officer in August 2024.

Kate Acland, Chair of B+LNZ, expressed gratitude for McIvor's remarkable tenure, emphasising his significant contributions to both organisations.

"Sam is taking up another leadership role within the primary sector, which will be announced later today," she said.

Acland highlighted McIvor's unwavering commitment over the past eight years as CEO, praising his role in steering the organisation towards success.

McIvor, reflecting on his time with B+LNZ and NZMB, shared sentiments of honour and appreciation for the opportunity to lead and work with dedicated staff members. He acknowledged the pivotal role of relationships in achieving the organisations' objectives, emphasising the collaborative efforts across various sectors of the industry. McIvor also paid tribute to the resilience and excellence of New Zealand farmers, describing them as the cornerstone of the sector.

While bidding farewell to his current roles, McIvor assured his continued involvement in the agricultural sector, albeit in a different capacity. He expressed eagerness to maintain existing relationships and contribute further to the industry's prosperity.

In the interim period, McIvor reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his remaining responsibilities at B+LNZ and NZMB, emphasizing his dedication until his departure on July 24, 2024.

Dr. Paul Reynolds, Chair of the OSPRI Board, expressed elation at McIvor's appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Sam as the new Chief Executive of OSPRI. His extensive experience, coupled with his profound understanding of the agricultural sector, uniquely positions him to drive OSPRI forward and deliver value to our shareholders, stakeholders, and the farming community."

McIvor himself expressed honor and enthusiasm regarding his new position, emphasizing his dedication to supporting New Zealand's primary industries. "I am passionate about the work OSPRI does to support New Zealand's primary industries, and I am committed to driving its mission forward with determination and innovation," he remarked.
