Alliance Supplier Outlines The Cost Of Capital Raising On His Cow Cheque

Clinton Fawthorpe, a shareholder of Alliance Meats, talks to Dom Geroge about his issues with the capital raising requirement from Alliance.

Fawthorpe, a dairy farmer in Temuka, has supplied cattle to Alliance Meats for six years. He sold cull cows this week and says, “instead of paying just over $400 in shareholdings, we've had to pay just over $1,700."

He says he was a staunch supporter of farmer-owned cooperatives but questions the value of being a shareholder.

"One of my friends a couple of weeks ago was cold called by an Alliance rep and offered exactly the same money that we've just received," Clinton recounts, highlighting the lack of incentive for shareholders.
