WATCH: Visit Hobbiton in Microsoft Flight Simulator's latest New Zealand update

Microsoft Flight Simulator enthusiasts can now soar through the picturesque landscapes of New Zealand, thanks to the simulator's latest world update.

This latest update allows players to experience the beauty of Aotearoa's stunning vistas in stunning photo-realistic quality, complete with high-resolution photogrammetry data and aerial photography.

The update features seven new cities, including Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Nelson, Queenstown, Tauranga, and Wellington, all created with the latest geographic data.

There are also 62 handcrafted points of interest and nine handcrafted airports created by acclaimed scenery developer Orbx and NZA Simulations.

In addition, Perfect Flight created ten missions that invite players to explore the country's myriad sights, test their skills, and bask in the majesty of New Zealand's diverse landscapes from above. These include three bush trips, three discovery flights, and four landing challenges.

The update also includes the Hobbiton Movie Set on New Zealand's North Island, which is surrounded by the region's unique natural splendour. From Aoraki/Mount Cook, the country's highest mountain at 12,218 feet above sea level, to the Milford Sound, a spectacular fjord, and the Bay of Islands, a group of 144 islands, and numerous small peninsulas and inlets, players can experience the expansive beauty of New Zealand from the cockpit of their virtual aircraft.

With World Update XII, Microsoft Flight Simulator offers an immersive experience that captures the unique character of New Zealand's landscapes, from the rugged mountains and dramatic fjords to the bustling cities and quaint coastal towns.
