Wilhelmina Shrimpton: Where have I been?

Opinion: If you were a regular listener of Lloyd Burr Live last year, you’d probably recall me also being a regular fixture on the show - reading the news and chiming in during interviews.

But this year, you may have noticed my voice has been missing from the show (apart from 'Beers & Ideas', and the couple of times I’ve popped up to news read).

Now, there’s a reason for my disappearing act, and it’s a really exciting one. I’ve been working on a pretty special project that forms part of my new role here at Today FM. As of this morning, I am officially our station’s new Investigations Editor.

I’ll be presenting, producing and overseeing the production of a new documentary series called 'Today FM Investigates', alongside our ever-talented Video Production Manager Simon Morrow.

This comes off the back of my podcast series last year called ‘The Core’, which later evolved into two video documentaries that we were incredibly proud to release - the first … BEHIND THE RAIDS: Children at the Wheel, and then HIGH AND DIE: The Fentanyl Problem

They made such an impact we thought it was important to produce more just like them, so here we are … and here’s the trailer for the series.

I’m so excited to be leading this series, and it’s my pledge to you as listeners and viewers to cover the issues that matter to you.

I promise to delve deeper, ask more questions, talk to more people, and get to the crux of an issue from all angles.

The first episode is out on March 20 - and it’s going to be a good one.

Even though I’m not on the Drive show every day, I’ll also still be stepping into the hot seat regularly to cover for some of our other hosts while they’re away .. just like today!

Documentary making and hosting really is the dream job for me, and I can’t wait to show you what we create.
